Anyverse: BrainBox (Lead Game Design/Art Director) 2023

In Anyverse I was in charge of game design and art direction of the company's games. From defining the game mechanics, planning user progression and levels, to designing the visual aspects, in assets, environments, and player’s companion characters.

BrainBox was the second company project, which was a location-based, accessorized VR app (additional sensors & third party features) that featured a wide variety of short game modes to be played in quick succession to improve the player's cognitive abilities & executive functions.
BrainBox Branding Sketches
Some experimental sketches for the branding of BrainBox that never saw the light of day. Eventually the color palette was kept, but branding itself was postponed to be outsourced at a later date.
BrainBox Visual Design Experimentation
The themes behind BrainBox (working title: Brainer) were peak mental ability, and rigorous training, so I decided to explore "Digitalized Ancient Greek" & "Futuristic Geometric Cyberpunk".
"Futuristic Geometric Cyberpunk" was chosen.
Game Mode: Stack Blaster (Working title: Wild Tiled West)
This game mode exercised player's reaction times, perception and spatial awareness, requiring the player to shoot the matching tiles that moved around them.
Game Mode: Mirrored Hand Maze
This game mode forced the player to rewire their motor functions, as they maneuvered a mirror-moving copycat hand through a maze of force-fields.
Game Mode: Airlock
This game mode exercised player's auditory, spatial and memory abilities, as they had to plug the correct whistles into the correct slots in order to recreate a melody they heard.
Additionally here is one of the ambient animations that would play on wall panels.

Game Mode: Shape Breaker
This game mode exercised player's reaction times, perception and spatial awareness, as they had to quickly hit matching shapes on holographic walls that moved towards them in quick succession.
Game Mode: Catch!
This game mode exercised player's attention and perception, requiring them to grab patterned space-flies, and place them in the matching containers.
Game Mode: Space Signal
This game mode tested the player's memory and spatial/auditory awareness, as they aimed sonic beams at passing planets to try and identify, memorize and match vibrating signals.
Sadly, Anyverse was closed down before a prototype of this game mode could be completed.

Thank you for your time & interest!
